GPP SIM(main type):
-easy setup menu, usually preconfigured
-switching SIMs does not require new setup
-supports 3G/4G HSPA+
-supports 128K/256K SIMs on GSM
-supports 64K SIMs on GSM and Sprint/Verizon without jailbreak
-supports 128K/256K SIMs on Verizon/Sprint with jailbreak
-supports 128k/256K SIMs on Verizon/Sprint without jailbreak with 3G as long as it's activated on Verizon/Sprint or roaming account first. SMS out not supported without jailbreak outside USA, only on US carriers.
RSIM Air(original version):
-setup menu has 4 modes: must choose Mode2 or Mode3 prior to selecting carrier.
-switching SIMs requires new setup menu
-supports 3G/4G HSPA+ as long as correct mode is chosen(Mode3 with jailbreak; Mode3 without jailbreak).
-supports 128K/256K SIMs on GSM in 3G/4G HSPA+ as long as Mode2 is chosen.
-supports 64K SIMs on GSM and Sprint/Verizon without jailbreak
-supports 128K/256K SIMs on Verizon/Sprint with jailbreak in Mode2
-supports 128K/256K SIMs on Verizon/Sprint for 2G data only without jailbreak in Mode3. Good for people who just want texting, iMessage, and calling. Note that US users can still use 3G data by choosing Mode2.
GPP SIM(modified version):
-same as Mode3 of RSIM Air; allows 2G data without jailbreak on Verizon/Sprint.
-not recommended for users who have access to jailbreak or 64K SIMs.
I recommend GPP for most users due to simplicity(one mode). Note that Sprint/Verizon jailbreak should be used on stock micro SIMs for 3G functionality.
