Hey
Okay i am an intermediate level technician who is IPC experienced in soldering and very go with actual repair and software tool but i need some advice or debate on hardware.
Many days i get phones which will not power on or got water damage with no power. I am now mostly asking about samsung and iphone. The normal procedure for a phone coming in the shop is ultrasonic clean and scrub follow by low heat with heat gun to dry but 60% of time this does not work. I see here that sometime capacitor , IC, resistor or crystal have problem but i would like expert technicians to help me trouble shoot.
Here are my questions:
Now I see that you can use multimeter or power supply to tell that there is short but how can you pin point which component?
There are 100s of components on the PCB, after you attack usually culprits like PMIC and CPU with no help how do you know where to look?
Do you test each?
If so I have started experimenting by testing with multimeter on diode test and not all ic beep which would indicate fault but when i test same ic on working pcb they do not beep so this method is not reliable.
How do you know if its internal clock chip or IC problem?
can someone clear everything up a little better for me? because all caps on new phones so small i can not imagine testing all
