htc one sv power question

hi, ive just got a htc one sv in for a full display replacement (lcd and touch) with other brand phones even with a messed up lcd and digitizer they still power on and are seen by my pc. But this htc does not. I can see the lcd light up, but nothing on the display. then the phone appears to just shut down after a few seconds. I am presuming its shut down as its not even recognised by my pc, and nothing lights up if I push any buttons. now my real question is, is this normal for the htc one sv with a cracked lcd and touch? I have tried to get into recovery mode and something does happen and the display stays lit up, but still nothing detected by my pc. ??? I don't want to have to buy a new display for this if there is a fault with the phone that replacing the display wont fix.
